@dubuque2010 Well, AC will have an effect if the stepper motor is AC driven. So, yes, a 50Hz step-down transformer might fail at driving your 60Hz load. Just curious, does the step-down transformer get warm if you try to use it for the sewing machine?

Jaycar Electronics in Canberra have a couple stores that still sells caps, resistors and other sundries related to electronics and have helped me many times, a big thanks to all the lads at the Belconnen store.
Another great show guys! 73's

Jim, is AC freq (50-60hz) effect stepper motors? My XYL has an embroidery machine the runs on 120VAC 60hz and we are now living overseas at 220AC 50hz. A step down transformer does not operate the motors in the machine. I suspect that the reason is due to that the step down passes the 50Hz which is to slow for the motors.

Hmmm. Just looking at the stats. I am amazed that once again we are hugely popular in Namibia.

Another great video guys! Happy Thanksgiving all around (Including outside the USA).
Good job on the Valve project, Peter!
We also enjoy Radio Shack Project Kits here at our QTH! @K4TEP (Twitter) got his ham "ticket" in part to the lessons the electronic project kits taught him. We also rely heavily on Gordo's study guides!!

A great show - particularly liked Peter's regen set. I look forward to a test of it on 160/80/40 metres with extra coils (spiderweb coils seem to work well).
Another fantastic episode... Keep it up guys... Is it just me or is the Audio on this episode a little muffled?

@BlackAck90 There were audio problems this time for sure. We hope to have it corrected by the next show.

@MadManMarkAu It happened about the time YouTube began. We got on before anyone knew much about YouTube.
