Ethanol doesn't take a PhD to understand it is vary easy to make and if you really think we can just drill our way out of the problems we have, then you should study Peak Oil allot more. you don't even understand long term sustainability at all.
It sounds like another pie in the sky solution. If it takes a PhD to understand the explanation of a fuel, then it means it's not a viable economic alternative. Just drill more oil, and drive smaller cars. That would do more then anything for long term sustainability.
this is absolutely great, the problem is. america doesnt want to change. we bitch and complain about fuel costs yet when we have the chance to supply new forms of fuel, we stop and say "well..we dont need that right now, gasoline is better" and we go right back to bitching. There's no way that we can get ANYWHERE, without coming together and changing the way we live.
The sun provides us with all the energy we need. You don't even need solar panels. Just an electrical current and some water. Both are plentiful on earth. I don't understand why we still even use the term "fuel". It's pathetic. We have all the power we need. It's just that we're not allowed to harness it because then people can't make money (like "E-Fuel"). I don't know whether to laugh or cry..
There is more than enough technology to do away with any kind of burning fuel. Such fuels were obsolete long ago. The earth and the atmosphere itself is one big ball of energy which can be tapped with no negative effects whatsoever. However such technology would require that those who know about it allow the world to use it. But they wont. They spend time and money of efforts like this which does nothing more than to bolster the illusion that energy is hard to obtain. This world is in a trance.
@dustyblake1 Not so small as to know that a diesel engine gets mileage than a hybrid.

Apart from using electric and solar cars, what else can we use?
I think the main problem is finding a cheap, renewable, environmentally friendly fuel. Hydrogen has virtually zero output.
