RUSSELL CALKINS IS THE VERY FIRST WORLD CHAMPION SKY SURFING DEMO TITLE HOLDER IN HISTORY 1992. ESPN SHOW SKYBLAZIN AIRED IN 1993, AND WAS THE VERY FIRST WORLD CHAMPION EVENT FOR SKYSURFING. IT WAS HOSTED BY DON SWAYZE. BONUS BLOOPER AT THE END OF THIS FOOTAGE, IS JOHN PETERS, A FRIEND THAT MADE A CRASH LANDING ON A DEMO JUMP FOR A GM COMMERCIAL.

Compilation of Russell Calkins skysurfing over Skydive Arizona in 1992. Video'ed with Hi-8, edited using two Panasonic prosumer Super VHS VCR's, basic time controller and Amiga PC based character generator. Produced and edited by Bill Voelker, a freefall photographer who made over 1200 skydives that year. For more information about skydiving/skysurfing, contact your local USPA affilicated "Dropzone" in your area listed in the Yellowpages. Bonus footage at the end of "Johnny Lighting" crashing and Bill Voelker "Gravel Surfing", a tamed form of hook turning or swooping since Skydive Arizona, at the time, only allowed 90 degree swooping turns.

Lol :P This stuff looks so amazing though. Skydiving/surfing etc I bet is like the greatest experience in the world!! I'm gonna go on my first jump soon but it would be so awesome if I could devote enough time and money to actually make this far someday. Or do that Wingsuit BASEjumping... which also looks amazing.
