Demonstration: Mesa Boogie vs Line 6
Additional Pedals: None, dry
Amp: Mesa Boogie Tremoverb 100 Head Line 6 Flextone III XL
Cab: Mesa Boogie Rectifier 4x12
Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul Standard

This is a brief comparison of a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Dual Rectifier versus a Line 6 Flextone III amp modeller set to a amp model to replicate the sound of a Mesa Boogie recifier.

The Line 6, Roadking and Mesa 4x12 belong to my bandmate Gary, you can see my Tremoverb sitting on top of his RK. Gary plays a short riff from a song called 'Stage IV' by my band Vinyl Future.

The video was recorded at low volume, so in theory the Line 6 is at an advantage and should sound better. Both amps are dry i.e. no effects.

If you have any questions or if you wish to request a specific demonstration of any of the equipment shown in the video, feel free to contact me through youtube or email me at my bands website, at www.vinylfuture.com.

  • the line 6 is a bit muddier and subdued. You can hear those harmonics coming out of the boogie, with more clarity.

  • I am a fan of both of these but one thing to note is that the Mesa probably isn't cranked, getting those tubes working 100%. However, another point is that the Flextone could be tweaked to give it more midrange presence.

  • how many watts is the flex?

  • quick question when u start playing it i was wondering and i said it looks alot like stockholm syndrome and then i saw hte name airport syndrome ... does it happen to be a coincidence or is htis like ur omage to muse mashup

  • Sounds like you pulled the mids out of the line 6 & added to the mesa boogie

  • Do you run special pickups in your les paul?

  • only about 1500 bucks difference in price

  • the mesa just sounds more raw and open,

  • Both should work equally well at alienating chicks.

  • And when u use the digi efx the signal processor is going to the max trying to give every tone punch whereas the real tube efx pedals never loses an ounce of punch!

  • Problem with digital is that it lacks punch to its tone. Only a tube and analog engineering could give you that since it directly reacts to the currents. Digital will only translate and interpret
