A beautifully written song from a confessional point of view about a terrible fire that broke out in Mann Gulch, North Montana in 1949. The subject in the song, a guy named Dodge, survived the fire only to die a few years later from Hodgkin's Disease. I learned this version from the amazing Richard Shindell.

  • Thanks, yeah, I have heard Keelaghan's version.

  • Thank you for posting your fine rendition of this classic song. I first heard this sung by Richard Shindell with Cry Cry Cry, and I like your interpretation *very much*, too. (Would like hear JK's sometime, too.) Keep up the fine playing and singing!

  • Thank you kindly!
