the pieces of peace was the funkiest band to ever come out of the windy city! the members were

BERNARD REED-BASS
JERRY WILSON ,BYRON BOWIE & MICHAEL DAVIS-HORNS
JOHN BISHOP-GUITAR
BENJAMIN WRIGHT-KEYBOARDS
HAROLD NESBITT and later FRED WHITE & FRED CRUTCHFIELD-DRUMS
KING JOHNSON-VOCALS

the group started out as the house band for brunswick/dakar,playing behind the likes of tyrone davis,young-holt unlimited and otis clay. they even released an instrumental version of the intruders' "cowboys to girls" as the jalynne sound on dakar in 1968. after a falling out with the label's boss carl davis, the band walked out in 1969 right down the street to syl johnson and twinight records where they became the house band and the kings of the twinight sound backing everyone from syl to annette poindexter, nate evans, the radiants, elvin spencer and the notations. after twinight's closing in 1972,the group recorded an album on fellow chicago funk band the pharoahs scarab records in 1972 (which has been reissued by quannum projects). pass it on was released in 1970 on twinight records and produced by syl johnson.

  • i believe thats freddy crutchfield on drums original member as pictured i video stills.

  • @kenirightout According to the label's songwriting credits (Reed/Wilson/Davis/Bishop/White) it seems Fred White was on drums for this particular session. The original drummer was Harold Nesbitt. Then Fred White replaced Nesbitt and then Crutchfield replaced White. So actually Fred Crutchfield was the last and final drummer Pieces Of Peace had before they disbanded. Thanks for your comment and I hope you enjoyed the video.
