Actually, I believe the last carburetor american car was in like 1989 on the Caprice model. I like fuel injection and its many variant's but the carb is still a pretty interesting mechanical device that function's well on modern vehicles still. Its really down to what you want to do. I really like how they shoved it all in a carb "container", pretty good idea and it looks cool.
I used to think that all fuel injection conversions would cost at least 4 grand with professional installation. I'm REAL glad there's a much lower cost, MUCH simpler-to-install conversion like this available and with a self-learning SKYNET-style ECU too :D
