Mr. Oyama was born in Dai Nippon Teikoku no Chosen which was the Imperial Japanese Province of Chosen (1910CE-1945CE), what is today North and South Korea. Mr. Oyama trained under Mr. Gichin Funakoshi the founder of Shotokan. Mr. Oyama also trained under Mr. Yamaguchi who was Sensei of Goju Ryu Karate. Thank you for your time. Osu

when he was child in Korea, he watched one guy was training in his house back yard whos work for his family. in the training,,when he punched sand bag, the opposite bag got explored.

According to his diary, he never moving to Japan for learning martial arts. He just appiled Japanese air force for food and dreaming becaome pilot, but Japanese lie to Korean guys and they pum'em into KAMIKAZE air plains.. after he escape from Japanese air force. he was homeless. he got discriminated by Japaneses martial arts people because he is Korean.
now, he is no.1 matial arts master in Japan.whole Japanese matial arts country kneel on one Korean guy.Choi Bae Dal is his real name.

Sosai Oyama.the god of karate.He truely was a blessing to the world of budo.i think he was the only man who had his own anime series called "karate baka ichidai" which was made in the late 70s i think and a feature movie made in korea called "fighter in the wind".check it all out.

This is a great life. I had the opportunity to go and train under Oyama, but was too lazy to make the effort to go to Japan. I regret this now.
