I saw the first litter arrive on my birthday, they had been FED, occasionally, by the neighbors - only when I approached them concerning the new arrivals, they denied almost having ever SEEN the mother cats.

Two litters within less than 2 weeks.

I was on my own once they suggested having them all put down.

I think this video is a good reminder to all of us... These were born of FERAL cats, notice there are NO ADULTS here. This was taken just as a hard freeze was hitting the area, I wasn't prepared so I had wrapped everything in blankets and then plastic... and then another layer of blankets... this was their coming out party, they thought.

Rotten little kittens! Nowadays I can touch all of them, when they feel like it... but otherwise, let this be a word of warning. It takes hours and hours of work, every day... just to get them to trust you enough to come NEAR you... and ferals don't usually allow their KITTENS to come near you, so it becomes even harder with each passing day. Please guys, don't think you will find takers for YOUR cat's kittens, easily. Be responsible! LIVES depend on it!

Check out this website, to begin with: www.alleycats.org - you will find helpful links there on all things involving cats, feral and otherwise.

(Oh yeah, "Cry" was one of the mothers - of whom there were two. When I called her name, they all came).

Each kitten can procreate, exponentially. Take this video as a lesson of what can happen to you. Please, get your cats fixed, the moment you CAN!!!!!!! Do it for them!!!!!!

(NOTE: All of these cats were fixed as soon as their weight was 2 lbs, I had to trap them, each one, in a separate cage, they might hurt themselves or another cat if you don't - so keep in mind the effort involved - not to mention the expense in obtaining the traps (and the spay/neuter cost itself) - if you allow them to have KITTENS... and then LATER decide to act.

Doing NOTHING is a decision you make, one that will lead to THIS, over and over. And think - for each litter, every one of them will need a home found for them! EVERY SINGLE ONE!

And then... don't forget the roast beef!

  • I'm caring for two feral cats, i feed them everyday. I will get them neuter soon.

  • They are going to be completely different - behaviorally. Don't wait until you can manage them on your own, find an animal organization that will provide you the help and advice you need. LOCALLY.

  • Are they fixed?

  • Definitely! That was the first thing I did once I learned that wild cats are immediately put down at the "shelters". I found a group that provided traps and I caught them all, one by one... if you will notice, their ears are tipped, this marks them as having a caretaker, in case animal control comes along and thinks they are strays. Collars are dangerous for a cat in the wild, they can get caught on things and strangle themselves. Ear tipping means they are fixed and have a caretaker.

  • I want to give you are big Thank You for all that you are doing for these cats. Its wonderful that there are concerned and caring people like you out there trying to help these abandoned and feral cats. God Bless You!

  • And, please never force an animal who is healthy to live in a cage!

  • NO animal deserves to spend its life in a cage.

And, just so you know, the (most likely) leader in a group of ferals is usually a female - called a "Queen", it is almost always a female. She makes the rules. NOT the males.

Please fix your animals and give them some freedom. You know they can't possibly be happy, ferals can NEVER be happy indoors without a LOT of work... usually months - if not - years.

  • Wow!! Did anybody get a head count?

    Hope they are doing well!

  • Excellent commentary in the sidebar!

  • That's very good :) Now i see, they are eartipped!
