Cool, excellent video! I used to own 2 gerbils who I named Sugar and Cream (male, brothers). They were both REW's, and they lived for 6 years. Now I'm hoping to get a slate and dove gerbil for my birthday from a breeder near me, their names are Murphy and Sapphire. Murphy is a special needs gerbil who according to the breeder has 'missing limbs'... anyone know how I should care for him?

That was awsome! hope they make more videos like this.

Could you make a video that shows how you normally decorate their tanks? You know, what kind of hiding places and stuf?
I have 6 female gerbils, in 2 tanks.

We attach the wheels to the roof with bread ties; you know, those little twisty things that come with loaves of bread?

how do you get the wheel on the roof like that? I can't seem to figure it out

If you're getting females, you should probaly only get two, since gerbil clans are matriarchial (ruled by females) and if you have 3 or more female gerbils, they'll usually fight with each other for dominance.
Males can be kept in groups of up to 7 if you have a large enough tank. In a 20 gallon tank, I would recommend getting 3 gerbils. Males get along really well, and although they enjoy wrestling, they rarely fight.

You know gerbils do they live longer than hammys?

It depends on the kind of hamster, but the answer is usually yes. Gerbils typically live for 3-5 years.

This vid, (in an odd way) has inspired me and my friend to breed gerbils. We both have three female gerbils and would really like to breed them, but we still need to know more about breeding though. Thanks for the vid ^^

Gerbil breeding can be fun, and you can usually use local ads to find new homes for the pups.
