  • @brooklynstudio no there reseason is lack of respect for the old style, and education they stop at srv and thats there blues knowledge, this music when played with the right language and passion will never be stale..Ive never once been bored playing this energy music.. keep on blues bro... happy new year..

  • @bluesdoor yeah you're right but I suppose the reason for the generic players is because it has been around for many decades. I guess because there are so many players trying to sound like they're favorite players, it can get stale.

  • @brooklynstudio yes & no apples and oranges, todays blues is more rock feel and old style is more swing boogie feel. todays leaves little space in the music someone has to always crash a cymbal or play everything they know. todays if you hear a song when the solo comes its always a SRV type solo you dont know who is play by there personal sound. the more you listen youll hear a guy and say thats so and so.. keep listening and you hear a difference 1950s -1965 blues to todays..

  • @bluesdoor well it's apples and oranges. If I'm not wrong, this (chicago blues) is the archetype for most of what came later, stuff like SRV (texas blues) and other blues stuff. I'm no expert on the stuff I just love listening to it so if I'm wrong someone school me

Yeah, you're right that many people adopt a critical stance when evaluating later Little Walter recordings. I hate those people >.< lol. It's true that he was a star in the 50's - his early output was something else and he probably experienced something of a burnout by the 60's. Nonetheless, there were instances of great playing from him from the period soon before his death and for me this recording is a case in point. Cheers

  • @valois89 Haha, don't be so presumptuous. I've been a Little Walter disciple since I was a little kid, and I wouldn't call any Little Walter crap. But I don't think many harp aficionados would disagree there was a marked contrast between the Walter of the 50s and the Walter of the 60s. Anyway, I really only meant to share with others when and where this recording is from because the uploader didn't and it's pretty obscure. If my initial comments sounded overly critical, I didn't mean them to.

  • @kingx448

You're one of those musos who claim that late Walter was crap, aren't you? This solo is fiery as hell, try to listen with your ears rather than looking at the date of the recording

  • "Blues Harmonica Player " is the new worldwide stage for Blues harp players to share their videos and ideas. We need guys like you who can play, upload your videos, help manage our forums, and be part of a movement that will go worldwide. We are backed by some of the best blues players we can find. “Like” us on Facebook and spread the word.

  • This is actually some very late Little Walter... acoustic obviously, and nothing like the wild, swingin, amplified shit he was playing as a young cat in the 50s. This is the audio from some recently discovered footage of Walter playing at one of those American Folk Blues Festivals in Germany in 1967. It's on a DVD called The Best of the American Folk Blues Festivals. Haha, the band actually sounds pretty bad playing with Walter; Hound Dog Taylor on guitar and a couple other guys playing rhythm.

  • buenisimooo!!! =)
