Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, accused the White House of conducting a "$20 billion shakedown" by requiring oil giant BP to establish a fund to compensate those hurt by the Gulf Coast oil spill. (June 17)
@guyfroml You don't seem to understand the magnitude of the assholishness of Barton's comments. He apologized and expressed deep sympathy to a CEO and oil company for the White House urging them to voluntarily set up a compensation fund after having just wreaked havoc on the environment and fucked up thousands of people's lives. If Obama didn't do anything, idiots like you would have been criticizing him for that instead. So shut the hole on your face.
Isn't time a wonderful thing...it reveals the truth, as in this case, Barton was 100% correct - BP got "shaken down". Odd considering BP not for a moment ever indicated they wouldn't do the right thing, but the White House had do show everyone what a big schlong it had and act real tough. Hmmm, typical worthless libtards - "never let a crisis go to waste," right?
The leak could have been stopped weeks in advance if they had used his head to plug the hole. Than forced his inbred redneck families to hard labor clean up of the beaches lol. I am running for election and bring back the Guillotine and public hanging...
It makes me sick to constantly see the authorities excuse what they call "SAFETY ISSUES" all the time as long as the o'mighty dollar is handed out. Its like an Officer doing 100MPH on the highway to catch up to anyone who MAY be speeding, though the posted limit is for safety of the citizens, its OK for the officer to endanger others in their attempt to ticket speed abusers. Then when he gets the ticket its a $300 fine to make everything OK again. "The love of money is the root of all evil"
Need I remind you that BP was fined over 700 Million dollars in CRIMINAL penalties not CIVIL penalties, when they built their rig, yet the greedy Gov. Agency in charge said give us money money money and the problem goes away. They knew the problem could exist but said NO WORRIES on fixing the issues, so long as you fill the agencies pockets with the good stuff. We are partially responsible for this and YES our tax dollars should help, they help EVERYWHERE else.
So the cost of the clean up should be sent to the american taxpayers. BP should not be accountable for the destruction of the Gulf coast and the people that make a living out there. Corrupt republican douchebags
Republicans just flat suck.
