Steph, I love Miranda Richardson too, Just watched the great movie Enchanted April with her in it. I AM AN ANGLOPHILE, lol. Have you ever seen her in her brief but powerful role in a little-known film THE APOSTLE, starring Robert Duvall. One of the most well-acted films I have ever seen in my life! She is SOUTHERN in that movie. ENCHANTING ACTRESS AND WOMAN.

Thank you for posting this, there are so many negative stereotypes about this wonderful queen, who worked very hard to restore dignity to the monarchy, the movie does NOT show how much King George loved her. Or how much she loved her children while trying to instill in them the sense of reverence for their destinies. She RECLAIMED things that belonged to the monarchy, some had been lost or given to mistresses, etc.

@karenofbethany I have to say that I don't know a whole lot about Queen Mary, except my knowledge from this movie. But I do really admire her and understand her struggles with her son. I also have read about her when reading about Queen Elizabeth II, since she was her grandmother. I do love how they have the one scene in this movie when George really expresses his love to Mary in his quiet way. I will have to read more about this queen in the future.

It is about the British royals, but it does feature the Romanov family in the film, since they are the cousins of the British royals. It is a fantastic historical film!
