The secret to reducing transfer load it to position the patient correctly for the rock and tip move. The knees must be over the toes, the patient is leaned forward, gently rocked and then tiped to the neurtal zone (area between the caregiver and the patient) this places the entire weight on the tibia bones which are blocked by the caregiver. It is then a simple matter to rotate the patient to the new seated surface.
