I do like the narrator's voice, but the 'music' is overwhelming the text.
Poetry stands on its own.

I agree with you, but then I am an old English teacher with an appreciation of the words alone. The images do compliment the circular theme within the work.
I wonder what Eliot would have made of the piece, he with his monotone renditions.

Which quartet is this. I know it isn't Burnt Norton or Little Gidding. Dry Salvages perhaps? In any case, it's the coolest, most powerful, most moving reading of my favorite author I've ever heard. Bravo!

I'd say that for Carl Orff maybe, but absolutely not for Beethoven!

I believe he is actually complimenting Beethoven....while dismissing the fool who made the idiotic attempt at a poetic slight against Willem .
