  • 4:35. That's the prolific moment when Roger almost forgot the lyrics and stuttered through "sensation." Pete heard it, liked it, and the rest is history.

  • The last Shindig! was aired on Jan. 1966.

  • @lunarpollen I believe you're right about the recording dates. The Shindig session was done on August 3rd, 1965, while the studio version of My Generation was not recorded until October 13 of that year. This partly explains the tameness of this particular version, since the song was still a work in progress! Mighty fascinating to hear and see such an early take on the classic I must say... :-)

  • Roger Daltrey is impossibly cool.

  • Great watching this!

  • keith moon was a monster

  • god bless you keith and john you left the music world much richer

  • @bigbass421 bastards... the dancing girls only practiced that part did you see? look at the end how they suddenly stop! By the way, this is one the best version of John's bass in this song..

  • P.S. - XtrmMcjohnson- That's an original, pointer knob Neptune, New Jersey built Danelectro Longhorn bass. Short scale, (30") - two single coil pickups in surplus chrome metal lipstick covers. Two concentric knobs- one volume and a tone stacked on top.... These basses were made with a plywood frame, and a Masonite top and back. A very 'cheap' bass in it's time, and they sound GREAT. I have an Evets Korean made re-issue from the 90's, and it's made better (!) and sounds great, too.

  • Musicians, ESPECIALLY bassists, have been DISSED by idiots both in our own bands, and by mentally challenged t.v. directors- producers, for- what is this video, 46 years old? One of the GREATEST bassists to ever play the instrument, during his bass solo in "My Generation," is cut away from, to a group of dancing girls. A bass solo in a rock song, roundwound strings, bass as a lead instrument- and we needed to see some dancers, 'cause that was all unimportant to the producer.. Assholes.
