LITTLE ROCK -- Governor Mike Beebe has named Elana Wills of Little Rock as the Associate Justice for Position 3 on the Arkansas Supreme Court. Wills, 46, has worked the past 20 years in the Opinions Division of the Arkansas Attorney General's Office, including more than 11 years as the Deputy Attorney General for Opinions.

"Elana has a comprehensive grasp of the United States and Arkansas Constitutions and federal and state codes that few can match," Beebe said. "She will be an objective and fair-minded Justice who will render well-qualified legal interpretations while serving on the Supreme Court." A Jonesboro native, Wills earned a bachelor's degree in business from Arkansas State University and her law degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She has been a long-standing member of the Arkansas Bar Association and has received the Arkansas Press Association's Freedom of Information Award for her work at the Attorney General's Office. Beebe appointed Wills to fill the position of Justice Tom Glaze, who is retiring from the bench after 29 years as a judge, including 21 on the Supreme Court. Wills' term will expire on December 31, 2010.
