John Stossel investigates the viability and fairness of Medicare as the financial burden continues to increase on younger generations.

Educators are encouraged to visit www.StosselInTheClassroom.org to order their own free Stossel In The Classroom DVDs or to watch additional videos streamed live from the site which didn't make the cut to be on the DVD with questions. The DVDs not only include these videos, but also worksheets and activity ideas. (Video taken from Stossel In The Classroom, though this account is unaffiliated with Stossel In The Classroom, ABC, the Center for Independent Thought, and/or John Stossel.)

  • Reposted [edit for lang. w/o permission] of OxbowisaMstie: Way to focus on the smallest% of seniors who use Medicare. The majority of seniors on Medicare cannot afford the ever increasing medical/pharm. expenses imposed on their fixed income and are forced on to Medicare part C or D (which is far less glamorous I assure you). Let's do away with Medicare instead of fixing it and make those freeloaders get a job. You don't BREAK your socialsafety nets when they no longer work, you FIX them.

  • The social security and medicare systems in the USA is just a legalized up-side-down pyramid scheme where there's not enough young people to support the mass numbers of elderly people. Eventually it will collapse.

  • If life is easy, you're doing it wrong. This is greed. >:P

  • @sleedolfine15

just points out how selfish this generation was whats whorse is the generation after me is even whorse!

  • The elderly lady laughed and said going to doctor is her social life. IT WAS A JOKE. YET STOSSEL takes it LITERALLY .......... I'm not saying Stossel might not have a point here. But I heard him on Fox say the same thing, that seniors use medicare as a social life. It's a terrible, terrible thing to seriously accuse seniors of using going to doctor as social life. Maybe when Stossel turns 90 a light bulb will click on and he will finally get it.

I wanted to punch out my screen when I she said "we deserve it." LOL, isn't she the one living in a $300,000 to $500,000 home?

  • @sleedolfine15

She probably doesn't have any. That would have limited her self-indulgence in life and had them work towards a meaning that isn't simply a personal lifestyle obsession but a better future for humanity. Luckily, spoiled children die out.

  • @StosselClassroom Permission granted, sorry for the potty mouth kidos!

  • @MaddDogg81 They pay far less in taxes than the average person. I agree tax them more and tax them responsibility. Roll back the Regan tax cuts!
