  • This song kept the mysterious atmosphere of the dark stages you explored, looking for the evil that inhabited the place.

  • This game was SO ahead of its time. Like 4 years ahead of its time.

  • lol...I played lots of Genesis games and never came across actual soulful quality orchestrated music like actraiser. FM is FM.

  • i love this game

  • This really gave the piramids an egiptian feeling!

  • Best song from this game.

  • Sadly, I always felt that the Genesis was more better in its first 2 years than its later years, and the quality of their games faltered following the release of Sonic 1 and Streets of Rage. The same year that Sega released Toejam & Earl and that crappy Spiderman title, SNES was releasing Castlevania 4, Actraiser, UN Squadron. and Final Fantasy 2. They may have played slower than Sonic, but they were thoroughly entertaining to play.

  • @hemidesign Revenge of Shinobi, Ghouls n Ghosts, Thunder Force 2 & 3, Sword of Vermilion all produced well orchestrated, ambient tunes that were equal to what SNES could do. It's as if they waived the importance of sound in order to focus all their efforts on blast processing, and when that wore thin, they basically mortgaged out their remaining value on sports titles. Genesis games played fast and more intuitively, but I feel that overall the SNES had a more robust library.

  • @hemidesign Super Adventure Island had some good tunes, but didn't have anything remarkable going for it visually. Also, the fact that it came out while Streetfighter 2 mania was in full swing did not do it any favors, either. Koshiro did some good stuff for Genesis, too, Revenge of Shinobi being the standout. For some reason, the earlier Genesis games produced better sound than what they produced later, and I don't think it had anything to do with the SNES's superiority.

  • @jstephenj I agree with you..but don't forget to mention about Super Adventure Island.. phenomenal dance music composed by the same dude, master Yuzo Koshiro! :)
