In 2009 I purchased a Sony HVR Z1 and made a test film with it, however time has passed and i felt i could make a better test film. So here it is, shot on HDV at 1080i, exported as MPEG2 and colour corrected in magic bullet looks, my new improved Z1 example footage.

  • Sharp and crips footage. Always a pleasure watching the ""old"" CCD technology delivering such a nice result. In my mind CCD footage is better to look at than Cmos. Gonna get me a Z1

  • @Fykjo Good on you! The Z1 has never let me down.

  • these are excellent results extracted from hvr-z1 , z1 is still a highly capable hd camera and it has super had ccds not the cmos stuff, a expert DP can make a cinema project easily from this camera you need to play with its settings to get the desired quality and we are thinking to use z1 for an upcoming feature film project

  • @StrongShah Yes I agree, the Z1 is still one of my favourite cameras to work with, it's so versatile and portable, and yet like you say with the right operator and settings you can get so much out of it. Good luck with your feature project.

  • awesome video!

  • nice one :)

  • @dgpictures5 ok, sweet. thanks for the help.

  • @1ABCNZABC1 Hey, I'm not sure. As far as i'm aware the last letter only denotes which part of the world the model is from. And as the Z1 can be switched between PAL and NTSC in the menu, and all use the same 7.2v batteries it really doesn't seem to matter at all. I live in the UK so i have the european model which i believe is the Z1E.
