Composer/ensemble leader Jennifer Cutting directs an ensemble of the Washington, DC areas finest Celtic and pop musicians in her newest production, Ocean. Ocean is an acoustic-electric symphony celebrating the Mystery and Magic of the Sea in both song and spoken word. The program combines Cuttings trademark arrangements of Irish and British traditional music with themes from classical music and her award-winning original compositions. Ocean runs the gamut from ethereal and other-worldly electronics to energizing fiddle and accordion jigs backed by a rocking rhythm section. Folk instruments such as button accordion, bagpipes, pennywhistle, and fiddle join forces with electric bass, drums, and electronic keyboard for a sizzling synergy that will appeal to fans of classical, folk, and pop music alike.
