The Bakerton Group is instrumental bluesy jam band and the side project of the stoner rock outfit Clutch. They incorporate elements of blues-rock, psychedelic rock and stoner rock. The band is comprised of four of the five members of Clutch, Tim Sult, Dan Maines, Jean-Paul Gaster, Mick Schauer and has toured extensively throughout Canada and the United States. Taking a sidestep from the token Clutch sound, The Bakerton Group is completely instrumental and pushes into foreign territory with a more southern, psychedelic, improvisational feel.
The Bakerton Group released a -track EP, Space Guitars, which is available to download for free from Clutch's official website.[1]
Recently, the band has finished work on a new album, recorded at The Magpie Cage in Baltimore, Md., by J. Robbins of Jawbox fame. The album was released via the band's website in October 2007.

  • i've always hated jambands, but I guess this is the exception

  • @nevergotbakerton

Neil is a founding member of Clutch, not Bakerton Group. Like I said, he joined in on guitar after Mick left.

  • @hcanes35 ah right - i see! :)

  • @quaecky no it is literally the same four guys. Neil just plays guitar.

  • fantastic

  • @hcanes35 essentially... but without a vocalist

  • @summatswrong the bakerton group is clutch

  • I like New Rome Quartet also...would love to see them together...

  • My friend that ran a record store has Prog Rock wired to his spine(he has a 23 minute long instrumental jam of his former band). This was a birthday present link to me, it will find its way to him, he probably has heard this band already.

Check out his band, "Audio Cinema" at CD Baby.com
