@1950teach im not the one who made this but you could flatten the end of the straws and put a thumb tack in them then cap them off so they dont come off

Yes. The length of the leg divided by the length of the frame perpendicular to the leg (or any one composing the square above it), should give the golden number, that is about 1.6.
