Strathcona County Transit 2007 Setra S417 #1011

Stratcona County Transit took delivery of 3 of these buses in the Spring of 2007. They are used for charter and transit services. They are powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine with an Allison B500R6 transmission. This video was filmed on 82nd Ave. near the Bonnie Doon area in Edmonton heading towards the University on the Route 404 during the afternoon.

It's uncommon here in Winnipeg, where I live to see the Setra S417 buses like seen on the video above. However, during summer months, especially during the Folklorama, that's the only time I can see this kind of bus that are utilized by number of charter companies from different parts of Canada and the neighbouring US.

Yes, in 2010 only Daimler Chrysler trucks and buses will be powered with Detroit Diesel engines, and Setra is definitely apart of the Daimler Chrysler Division. But at the same time I wish the MCI Coaches could have been DD15 powered, it would have been perfect for them too

Wait a min, am I reading correct, did you just say they are putting DD15 in the 2010 model of Setra? If so, Setra buses will be the fastest buses on the road!

The Series 60 on this bus sounds tight. I wait can't until the we see the 2010 Setra Buses, they are going to be DD15 powered

Nicest bus around. My second favorite is the MCI J4500, but i never thought i find something like this

The first time I saw a Setra S417, I thought it was one of the most beautyful thing ever put on wheels. The bus I saw was a brand new Sun Diego ( yes I got it right Sun Diego Tours not San Diego)bus. I am suprize to see a transit company is using a S417, most transit company use MCI D modles if they need a coach. The S417 seem to pretty to do transit work. Thats like having a MCI E modle doing transit work.
