Back Story - This is about a 30min Documentary called "Vala - The Power of the Black Students at Columbia 1968 - 2008". A look into the Columbia University Student
Revolt in 1968 from the Black Students prospective. The Student groups and other students
organized and began with a protest the White students against the Vietnam War Draft the
Black Students against the building of a Segregated Gym in Harlem. The story you here on
Tom Brokaw and other Mainstream Media outlets is that of Mark Rudd which led the White
Students Revolt which resulted in Violence because of their behavior and Police Brutality
because of their Behavior. However The Black Students Which took over Hamilton Hall
Building, Kept it Clean , they had Support from the Harlem Community, they had Lawyers
and Civil Rights Leaders, Police Officers that were determined to help them. Which they
did, It worked The kids got there demands met they did not Build the gym, and They did
not get killed! they graduated from School and Went on to leads Careers in society, It was a Successful outcome from a peaceful protest!This story was adapted and introduced by
