  • The Western Digital SiliconEdge blue is one of the slowest SSDs on the market during the time this review was posted. It sacrificed read/write speeds for longevity (it can last a hundred years).

Seagate deliberately chose a slow SSD to compare the momentus XT with. A good comparison would replace the WD SSD with an intel or OCZ SSD to compare the momentus XT with.

  • Seagate, please make a newer version of this drive! One of the 750GB platters would be great, and I'm sure there could be some more performance increases with a larger flash cache like 8GB, maybe read and write instead of just read like right now.

  • I wonder if this drive will work with a Linux system?

  • Why don't make a hard-drive with TWO read/write head...

  • Message to seagate :

Please don't put money on this hybrid , we can everybody put one ssd and one hdd on a laptop

Try to improve your hdd and work on DOS system wiping because UltimateCDboot can give the DiskWizard, but only TWO PASSES or fast, I would like to have 1 2 3 or 4 passes wiping, stop doing nothing and work on your programs !

  • @sebastilus dude, you got the link? ..

  • Please continue expanding your hybrid product line, I would love to see the size of the cache expanded to 1/16th - 1/8th the size of the raw capacity. Additionally I'd love to see this technology on your enterprise and desktop drives.

  • Its a no brainer that SSD will eventually become standard and hard disc drives will be phased out, in the very near future. As soon as manufacturing cost's decrease for SSD's it will then translate into more affordable prices and the choice between the medium's is obvious, SSD is far better in so many ways.

  • they wouldnt dare tell us which ssd was faster
