Better Dead than Red is a short satire aimed at fears that captivated and consumed 1950's Cold War-era America. Portrayed in the style of a propaganda news reel, subjects such as fear of communism, the "birth" of the pledge of allegiance, and the race for space are explored with sarcastic urgency.

- abolition of private property/entrepreneurship

- abolition of a free market system

- planned economy/ collectivization

- "classless society"
