when doing the lunges try to have your knees not pass your toes

@willwyne my concern is not so much with knees passing the toes, but more with the heal remaining in contact with the ground. Most times when peoples knees go past their toes it is because they are putting the pressure on the wrong part of the foot. If the heal is down it's fine for the knees to go a bit beyond the toes.

@baseballstrength but when you hit, run, or throw in baseball your going to be more on your toes than your heel and when you put weight on your heel versus your toes the force is being put on you skeletal system more than your muscles and tendons

very true from a baseball movement standpoint but in the weight room we are simply training the muscles for baseball and not the movements of baseball. As for the lunge, pressing thru the heal does not put the force on the skeletal system but rather the muscles of the posterior leg/hip (hamstrings/glutes). Remember when movement is performed it is the muscular system not skeletal system producing/absorbing the force.
