I picked up one of these to learn on. After a lot of carnage, I picked up a 2nd one from the Tower Hobbies Dent and Ding section. Several things I figured out:
1) Tape up the nose with electrical tape
2) Tape the leading edge of the wings with electrical tape
3) Use strapping tape on the underside of the wings to stiffen them up
4) Motor on top
5) Use black electrical tape to unitize the wings, motor, and airframe
6) Mount the battery towards the ESC for better control.
As long as you have decent hand eye coordination this will be a good beginners choice for as it is foam and easy to repair when crashed... Also it has upgraded wings and a duel fan setup when you become more experienced.
This is a GREAT plane for beginners, contrary to all the critics. It flies very nicely and slowly on low throttle and glides right in for a soft landing. The Aerocell material is also fairly tough. Everyone who gets one should do the motor on top mod, however, from the first flight. Check out "Diablo with motor on top" by northchim, often included in related videos to the right. Read my comments there.

It now flies great!

No need for wheels if you do MOTOR ON TOP mod. Check out "Diablo with motor on top" by northchim and read my comments. You'll be glad you did.

BTW, notice how they cut away and don't show both of the landings on the video! Landings are lame with the motor on bottom.
