They will do that when the braking mechanism fails, causing it to spin to fast and the blades disconnect from the base the spinning force is so strong

In that much wind, the turbine probably created so much energy to sell. That money is probably enough to buy another wind turbine.

what would cause it to explode so violently? I would have guessed the overheating would cause a fire, or the blades to wobble and hit the tower.
