Since butter didn't play guitar, probably so. I've seen Butter and The Yards live and although the YB's were one of my fav groups, Butter's band was way better.
I HAD to sit (not stand) through dozens of Butterball's Blues bands' derivative fourth rate Chicago white boy fake concerts and felt nothing but bored. I'll remember the Yardbirds' concerts (standing and yelling) the rest of my life. The Y'Birds (in any of their line-ups) were effin great: original exciting and cool.
Beck using a Telecaster here: It is arguable if Les Paul beat Fender to the solid body. Really Rickenbacker and others had made solid body electrics over a decade before either, unless you want to say they didn't count because they were only for slide with no frets.
Yes, Jeff quickly mastered the fuzzbox sound. Alot of people copied it too, especially Iron Butterfly. Always sounds beautiful to me! I've seen pictures of the first electric guitars. They remind me of frying pans.
Yes, that's right. Just saw a picture of it the other day in a guitar book, and that's what they called it, "The frying pan". Probably sounded like one too, ha ha ha
