  • Hi TClear1975. I'm looking to build in far west Texas at a site with strong winds. I've become convinced that SIP's are the way to go, but I have some questions. Is the concrete brittle? Can I use it inside and outside? How thick is the concrete piece? Are there other types of concrete backer board not a good as util-a-crete? Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • The system is designed for exterior walls as well as interior. The concrete surface is designed to be finished in a variety of ways. The concrete is only 1/4" thick - the panel is 41/2" thick. It has withstood many hurricanes including Katrina. Other backerboards do not have the flexural strengths nor the compressive strengths that is Util-A-Crete's manufactured quality standard. • concrete board on these panels makes it number 1

  • Using Util-A-Crete Concrete backer board make the difference. It has the highest flexural and compressive strength board on the market. Because of the smooth surface, the backer can be skimmed with multi-purpose drywall compound eliminating the need for a drywall layer. It can have tile or stone applied. The exterior can accept any finish you wish - even siding.

  • How is this system for sound transmition? I've been in several SIP houses, and sound transmition seems to be really terrible in all of them.

Actually, by far the nicest house I've been in was built with SIPS, then stick framed 2x4 walls inside. Very even, comfortable warmth, nice and quiet...a very large house that was very cozy! And when you slam the door, the whole house doesn't shake like a stick framed house does...

  • Extra Quiet. You would be amazed. You are correct about cozy. If you use ProTEC panels inside and out you do not have dissimilar materials with varying levels of moisture. The house remains stable and comfortable. Give us a call...800-544-7398

  • Where this system breaks down is fastening anything to it after construction is finished, like a nice outside light or maybe some shelves indoors, whats the repair chances if a car drives into one, can you replace the panel easily?

  • Is this the only advertising you have. Can I go to your website...do you have a website????

  • There is no problem or "breakdown" with "attaching" anything to this system. Molly anchors and attachment points - even hanging cabinets are addressed in our construction manual. We have had a car hit a critical point in a wall. The panel stopped the car and was easily repaired. The car was traveling in excess of 40 miles per hour! Call us at 800-544-7398.

  • Thank you for your comment on our ProTEC C-SIP System. We will be pleased to serve your needs and know you will be pleased with the system performance, sustainability and durability.
