If a lapping plate is not flat, the parts lapped on it will not be flat. Maintaining plate flatness is essential. This video shows how to correct a Convex or Concave Lapping Plate on a Kemet Lapping Machine by moving the conditioning rings and using Kemox abrasive suspension

  • Good video I use a Kemet 15 for sharpening horse clippers for this the plate must be kept slightly convex in order to put a hollow into the blades.

The comb and cutter must never be put into the same conditioning ring. A sheet of tufnol with washers superglued underneath is used to hold them in the ring then a sheet of dycem, felt pad and weight is placed on top. Sometimes it is necessary to cut out part of the felt pad if their is a bracket on the cutter.
