Originally, John Wilkes Booth, a well-known actor and a Confederate spy from Maryland, had formulated a plan to kidnap Lincoln in exchange for the release of Confederate prisoners. After attending an April 11 speech in which Lincoln promoted voting rights for blacks, an incensed Booth changed his plans and determined to assassinate the president.[53] Learning that the President and First Lady, together with the Grants, would be attending Ford's Theatre, he laid his plans, assigning his co-conspirators to assassinate Vice President Andrew Johnson and Secretary of State William H. Seward.
Creepy but cool to see his assassination site

@doversniper Dude, Come on! We have a right to our own opinions but have a little respect, please. He was not only our President who saved our nation with his caring and independant spirit but he had a wife and children, with only two alive at the time of the assassination. They were Robert Todd (age 21), and Tad (age 12). The other two boys Eddie died 2/1/1850 at age 3, and Willie died 2/20/1862 at age 11. God bless Lincoln.
