As mentioned in the video, I am participating in the 2008 Team Sarcoma Bike Tour in Germany/Austria (Danube River). I did this ride last year in Vermont and it motivated me to do more rides to raise awareness of sarcoma. My mother died from this form of cancer in October 12, 2006 at the age of 52. Since then I've been on a crusade to pass on awareness of sarcoma to others. My second goal is raise money for sarcoma research, this year I hope to raise $6500.

If you are interested in sponsoring me you can do it now online. To go http://www.ts2007mel.com for more information. THANKS FOR WATCHING!

If you want to donate online here is the link:

http://www.justgive.org/nonprofits/donate.jsp?ein=13-3848582

In the "Designate My Donation" field enter, "Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative"

In the "Dedicate my donation" field enter as a memorial to LUCIA KRAMER.

You must enter these steps or the donation will not be properly credited to the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.

  • Melissa, What a wonderful video. I was diagnosed with a pelvic leiomyosarcoma a year ago. After surgery, radiation, and chemo, I am currently NED (no evidence of disease). I hope to meet you in Germany this summer as I, too, plan to raise funds and ride in Team Sarcoma 2008. Alan

  • Hey Alan, me and my boyfriend booked our tickets yesterday! We're excited about Germany/Austria and meeting you all!

  • Ah crap I meant to give your comment a thumbs up but I guess I have bad aim. SORRY!

  • You are Awesome Melissa. an inspiration. I got to get my fundraising ideas/videos in order and catch up with you. have you seen google current tv? maybe we can team up and make a viral video for that? get sarcoma on to a major cable youth network. . .

either way, thanks for posting this, and I hope to meet you some day so I can thank you in person with a big hug. keep up the good work.

  • Haven't heard of GOOGLE CURRENT TV (I did check it out). If you want to hash out a video that sounds like a good idea to me--are you still in the states?

  • You are amazing. Thank you so much for dedicating your time to raising awareness and fundraising to battle these diseases. You are an inspiration.

  • My daughter passed away with Ewing Sarcoma Feb. 7, 2009. Her name was Brandy Lynette Reid and was treated at the Children's Hospital in Birmingham, AL from Sept. 2007 - Feb. 7, 2009. I do think that this type of cancer needs to be study more. R.I.P. Brandy, mom loves you!

  • Thank you for what you have decided to do in memory of your mother.I am sure that she is very proud of your path and vision as she looks from heaven in guidance in your efforts. My 12 yo son has just been diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma and we will begin the fight April 24th 2008.I have began to get myself informed in the fight to gain awareness of this horrible disease. Keep up the great work and know that this disease has gained more enemies in the fight to defeat it.

  • Melissa, count on us to support your MOST wonderful cause, and, once again. Lucia will be biking right next to you.

    P.S. Love the lumenarias shot

    Love, Auntie Val

  • good luck girl! this is going to be an amazing event.

  • best wishes to you and all involved i lost my 14 year old daughter Keegan to ewings sarcoma on nov 2 2004.I have a myspace page in her honor partly and partly to help me heal if there is such a thing.

  • I am a 46 year old single mom of a beautiful 16 year old daughter & a 1 year survivor of synovial sarcoma. People say I'm their hero because of everything I've been through. I kept an upbeat & positive attitude while I went through heavy chemo & radiation, having my leg amputated & learning how to walk & do things with a prosthetic leg. I say YOU are the real "HERO" for your dedication & awareness to the research of sarcoma.

Thank you my hero & God bless you.
