  • I just saw Alvarez as Macbeth on Saturday and, while the voice is gorgeous and all that, did not find him to be quite as amazing as everyone makes him out to be. Great color, great top, but the voice doesn't seem quite as fresh as it should, I agree ezayi. Calleja and Pape on the other hand stole the show.

  • Very nice voice... I don´t know, but he sounds a little old to me and he´s still young enough to sound fresher. Nice voice though.

  • He can sing and he's got voice! The other commentor is right, there is a quite tiring scene coming right before this aria, plus the aria is quite late in the score. If he could sing this in a gala, I'm sure his breathing would be a lot better and the effort not as visible. Then again, close-up TV destroys all the opera's magic anyway... I'm not a fan of this.... but these are our times, unfortunately.

  • nice voice, bravo Carlos Alvarez, before this aria there's long scene that takes too much energy, but he managed to control his voice.

  • splendido!!!!!!!

  • I saw him in Rigoletto, and it was just incredible. It was so good, I had to go twice. He brought the house down with his Cortigiani. By far the best Verdi-Baritone in the last 15 years.
