The wonderful Marlo Thomas stopped by to chat with Ellen about her new book on the importance of laughter, and her husband Phil Donahue joined her! Together they had a lot of fun joking around with Ellen.

  • @Mickeytcat1 Wow you're so lucky and yes she's tiny only 5'4 (and 98 pounds read that in her book) but don't let her size fool you she's superstrong

  • Marlo is a cute and tiny woman but don't let that fool you she can even lift a set of golf clubs which I can't do and I'm around 6 feet

  • @FinallyunderstandU I agree CC

  • @coolsweetgroovy 'Merv' and Marlo are a purrrfect couple ((=~.~=))

  • Marlo and Phil are a nice couple

  • Marlo is a charmer.

  • part 3 We ran into them many times during the week, but left them alone. They were absolutely enthralled with one another! They complimented one another completely! Real love!!!!! Rome, summer of 1978! I will always remember that time of life and running into Phil and Marlo in Rome! Magical!!!

  • part 2 When the Vespa nearly overturned, they were oblivious, smiling and laughing.Marlo actually stood on the sides of the Vespa kissing Phil's head.I will always remember them, as that was a very special trip for me too.You could see and feel their love. And I remember her outfit.......a cranberry/maroon short set. She was MUCH tinier than I had expected! Mind you. I was 5' 7" and 108 lbs at the time. She was smaller than I!

  • I remember as if it were yesterday running into Phil and Marlo in Rome, summer 1978. My boyfriend, a medical student at the time, and I were walking down a fairly remote street in Rome, if such a street exists, when a Vespa nearly overturned. I said "Oh my God, it's Phil Donahue. My boyfriend responded.."never mind him, that's Marlo Thomas" I still remember the affection they displayed, which for "woman's lib" Marlo was startling to me! (part 1 of 3)
