@kyubihanyou It really wouldn't have matter if it was MJ's because, on a technicality, Sega owns the rights to Sonic and it's music, thus making them able to implement it into newer games. So MJ could still be the composer.

Simply put, the tracks that can linked to him and his sound team are the ones that are replaced in S&K Collection, which amounts to ten (Carnival Night 1+2, IceCap 1+2, Launch Base 1+2, Competition Menu, S3 Act 1 Boss, S3 Knuckles' Theme and S3 Staff Roll).

Hydrocity being remade in Sonic Generations is ultimate proof that Hydrocity isn't MJ et al.'s b/c they're free to reuse it.

Masayuki Nagao of the Sega Sound Team recently confirmed that this act of Hydrocity was arranged by him. The original composer is still unknown, though.
