Ayers rock is soooooo underwhelming and totally NOT worth the very long trip. It's not even worth going even if you live in Australia. Really, it is crap.

- Climbing Uluru isn’t really illegal, but it’s discrimination to the local aboriginal people, because Uluru is a sacred area. The aboriginals believe a lot in spirits. They believe that, when you die your spirit will live on inside of Uluru. So when you climb Uluru, you actually step on the old aboriginal ancestors.
But, today it’s a great opportunity to get tourism, a lot are climbing the rock and don’t think of the old spiritual stories that lie buried in this sacred area.
