  • Isn't the "Exotica" album by Martin Denny? If so, if this Les Baxter or Martin Denny?

  • @BuyBenco 'Exotica' in the description sections refers to the genre of music, and not the actual album...

  • thanks for the wonderful array of album covers along with the great Baxter sounds!

  • Glad to meet people who enjoy lovely exotica msuic ;))

  • It is so GREAT to see a young person who appreciates this music ! ! ! There's magic in this with the effect of all the different instruments and voices. You don't get the magic with just guitars and drums! Thanks so much, my playlist for Les just grew with your help!

  • I have to thank my parents who are originally from California for my music tastes now. Merci!

  • Thank you, for the information, my romanticism scratches the ridiculous sometimes, that's what I've been told, but this music makes me fell like a cat with cat-nip, thnak you one more time.

  • Hello the jackieO1966, Merci for the excellent music & slide show of the LP covers! I have about half of the LPs in the video. I've been collecting exotica, tiki, lounge, bachelor pad, Hawaiian & bossa nova for many years, 100's of LPs. The album cover art, recording quality and the superb music keep me collecting. I am delighted that thrift shops seem to have more "easy listening music" than any other kind.

I'll look for more Les Baxter now too.

Oh, my first LP was Martin Denny's Exotica.

  • @richard4677 Actualy there are a few great exotica groups still playing. Th best one is Don Tiki in Hawaii, a large group of musicians. The great Martin Denny performed with the during the last few years of his life. In the Baltimore/ Wash. DC area there's a Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass tribute band called Black Sombrero Brass. Most of the members are in their 50's & 60's and are all professional musicians, performing flawless TJB tunes as well playing TJB style of great standards.

  • Les Baxter was a real genius of the music, his arrangements are incredible, I'm sorry that we don't have anymore this kind of musicians, where the romance has gone?

  • @BuyBenco I really don't know who started first, but Les Baxter startd with his "Quiet Village" and Martin Denny played I think later.

  • it feels soooo smooth in my ears....!

  • @Blackmaria60 That restaurant was amazing. Shame to hear that its closed.

  • It's kool that you show the Kahiki here in Columbus....every time I drive by there now I want to throw up bc it's a Walgreens now instead of that beautiful restaurant!!! I was there once in 1977 for my grandma's 25th wed anniv. I was only 8! DOH!! Still got the cups tho'!
