CR&R / Rapid Rail Part 1

Filmed in a small, run down neighborhood that divides Norwalk from Santa Fe Springs. So Im not entirely sure if its was in Norwalk or Santa Fe Springs as both cities have small CR&R routes.

I was led to this area in search of these very trucks, and on the way I had wondered, Since this used to be a Disposal Services route, maybe these are Disposal Services old trucks that CR&R just bought when they won the contract, sure enough, as you see under the CR&R paint is Disposal Services blue! These are the very same body stlye/chassi trucks that used to run the streets of my house as a kid, aswel as the 310 ans olser stlye 320s. However the 310 and older 320 Rapid Rails are not in this yard! So another CR&R yard somewhere else has the Peterbilt rapid rails in it. (to you guys out in the IE, start lookin!)

How can you not love the high pitch whines mixed with the deep cranking sound of an old diesel at work. Sure was fun to film these videos. Ill be out looking for these trucks again, as I hope to find the WhiteGMC old stlye Amrep ASL that caused all the damage to these Rotos you see.

Well I hope you enjoyed hearing and seeing this ancient Late 80- early 90s Rapid Rail in action. Sure miss hearing these at my house from when I was a kid. Except ours werent tag axles, but still WhiteGMC / Volvo / 310 Rapid Rails.

man just love that sound that truck makes. man i miss watching heil rapids. wish edco would sign a new contract with them. i'm glass cr&r has different trucks then just amreps. that just gets boring, like edco and their bridgeports. can't believe i missed this video. total favorite!!!

@TheTrashman97 funny you watched this today, I was trying to go back here today for more footage in HD, however I looked at the weather report last night and said screw that! said to be 94, turned out to be 102 here today so Im glad I didnt go ride my bike on a 35 miles round trip... hopefully next week though. They have these Rapid Rails, a few 310 rapid rails (all rapid rails are ex disposal services which means alot to me) and they have the only 7000 that DS ever owned. Gotta find that next!

First thing I want to say is that it is bloody brilliant to not see a bloody CR&R Amrep for a change lol Secondly the sound of that engine is priceless, especially when you're close to the exhaust at 6:00 and 9:00! He really likes tapping the throttle to get those short revs... makes it more exciting too :P Very lucky to find an older truck around too, I could swear that down here in Sydney everything is almost brand new :/ Screw the CNGs, bring back these roaring diesels!!! Top job again Mike!

Good God Mike, just keep outdoing yourself!!! This truck sounds not as much like that single axle RR I filmed but more like an actual EDI ASL. I'm posting a single clip from that footage and I'll send it to you so you can get an idea. He revs continuously at each house, but the arm doesn't go as fast. This CR&R driver is more entertaining, but I definitely like the 'driving away' sound of our truck better :D

Do these same WX64's/Heils do recycling also?
