  • I first heard this as a teenager in 1955 & bought the JATP 12inch LP. This Oscar Peterson performance did set the bar in jazz piano at the time & it still sounds fantastic today.

I defy anyone on the planet not to tap their feet at 1:12 as you are drawn into the swing of this.

Thanks for posting - it will inspire many.

  • @thomas1140 thank you so much for your story..

  • pure legend

  • IMO Oscar was a true musical giant. Had the pleasure of getting to know him BIT IN SF. A true gentleman, maybe not the greatest innovator (hard to do on piano) bot no one I've heard could out swing him. Heard him a a jazz festival in Napa CA. He'd just flown to SF & was driven to Napa. He was about 45 min.late Ray & Ed were already there. He arrived, changed clothes & to a standing ovation, w/o 1 warm up note played a *****concert. A real artist, not a fake like Keith Jarrett. Oscar is awesome!

  • @itmsjim love how Jim incorporated the rolling bass into the song. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm still trying to get the few chords down without making mistakes.

  • @thomas1140 haha i tried, u win, its a reflex

  • @thomas1140 : 100% agree - this is hwt turnede me on to jazz in 1958. Superb - but I think the JATP version is slightly better.
