My wife and I saw them as a young couple 9 times from 1985 through the 90s, and the Life's Rich Pageant tour was R.E.M. at its peak in terms of better musicianship, combined with Michael's raw energy and dance moves, Bill's drumming (which has been missed), the songs in their catalog to perform at that point...man, they were spellbinding. Best show ever was in the rain at the Pacific Amphitheater, and they played an especially energetic set- These Days, I Believe, Murmur songs, etc killed!

Ditto to that. This was their best period as the darlings of college radio.
