How to set up a network in VirtualBox under Windows XP. One thing I forgot to mention, is that if you are using a wireless connection you will need to re-authenticate yourself to the wireless network, because your IP address will change.

  • FYI the newer versions of VirtualBox have a feature that's built in to bridge with your existing physical connection. This includes both wired and wireless. I go into more detail on this in my Windows 7 and VirtualBox video.

  • Thanks for the compliments and glad that it was useful.

  • thanks a lot! this is useful

  • hey bruh great video... ive manage to load backtrack 4 final on my vm box which is the latest version 3.xx.. i have everything installed but i cant ping my vm from my host.. The Vm has an IP address but my network interface isnt shown.. I dont know how to get it out of loopback... Any suggestions?

  • very nice. . . it really works. .. just follow. . . thanks for this video. . .

  • The best!!!!

  • Thanks for this very much, I learned a lot! Didn't even know I had to bridge the connections manually in the Network Connections window when using bridged mode.

I'm wondering though, how can you allow the VM (guest) to connect to the network through WiFi but deny the host any access to internet?

Thanks once again and greets from Amsterdam :p

  • No problem and thanks for the feedback. Glad to know that people are actually watching my videos, especially outside of the US.
