Route 58 through southern Virginia is a beautiful road. This is a pre-Interstate 4 lane American Highway similair to Rt. 20 in New York State, Route 66, and the mighty Lincoln Highway. These 4 lane highways were how everyone moved from city to city before the Interstates. Route 58 links Norfolk to the Interstates south so there is a good bit of traffic on these. Almost a flashback to the past, most of the small towns along this route are speedtrap towns. The majority of township revenue is generated by issuing speeding tickets. For all you law enforcement advocates out there I will tell you this, I know a COP who got a ticket in Emporia even after he "tinned" them. No Bennies for Johnies out here apparently, so watch it!

  • Thank you ! My relatives live along this stretch of 58 in Brodnax

  • Hey, thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride.

  • that vid must be from Brunswick County or near the Brunswick/Mecklenburg county line. Hey where did you get that info about Interstate 4? with the amount of traffic that rides 58 the best thing is to probably leave it like it is...just add a few rest stops like Rt 29 is in Danville through nc

  • Let me rephase that.

A beautiful, pre-Inerestate, four-lane highway. I didn't mean for Inerstate 4 down there in Florida to be involved. The roads I meant were those like The Mighty Lincoln Highway, Route 20, Route 66, etc. Sorry about the confusion.

  • Still 55mph with a very few sections set at a dangerous 60mph. No need to worry, the small-town cops around there are armed to the teeth with all kinds of electronic speed measuring devices. Be careful

  • Seems everyone is in a hurry BSP. ANyone who speeds in Emporia probably needs a good head examination. DO you play Beatles songs in local clubs?

  • My uncle lives in Chesapeake, and he warned us about Emporia. So, I drove the speed limit from I-85 all the way to Chesapeake. Damn, was that hell of a long drive.

There should be a higher speed connection between Hampton Roads and I-95 and Hampton Roads and I-85.

  • i hate that bump on that bridge it sucks, but your right a cop is sitting right after that bridge lol

  • ten four there driver.....ten four!
