I don't remember, as I haven't watched the DVD in a long time, but I think this was included in the supplemental materials of the Director's Edition DVD release of the film.

While I prefer the Cue that was used in the End, this one is still great Music on its own Terms... then again, its Goldsmith. Whats not to love! :D

I was watching the Star Trek TMP directors Edition last night.I was watching the making of this movie on the extras and they did show this scene with this alternate music..Robert wise was right as he put it it was bombastic in tone and sounded like it should be for an old sailing ship not a starship.Boy i'm glad they fixed this
