@boxingfan101 I can spare a little over a minute and a half. Freedom of speech here allows me to express my opinion. Robeson "thought" that communism looked good on paper. For being a "supposedly" intelligent fellow, he failed to do the adequate research on the Soviet Union. Under Stalin, there were no "civil rights". Even for a black man.
Minorities still get the shaft in the majority of the world. Unfortunate, but true.

@honestman43 Why have you bothered to watch this video then what a waste of your time.

Not in a debate about civil rights, which is obvious even to the layman as being his reason for endorsing the Soviet Union, it had little to do with his politics and far more to do with his experiences in the USSR where he felt to be equal juxtaposed with the USA where he had to fight tooth and nail to have his extraordinary talents recognised. He wasn't a traitor to his country and he didn't hate the USA he obviously felt it was an unjust society which, for a black man.. it was.

Who cares if Robeson spoke so many languages. He supported Stalin. Gee, why didn't he move to Russia? Genius? He couldn't see that communism in practice will not work? Smart in some areas, total idiot in others.

wow how could he speak so many languages...especially in those times when languages werent really that accessible like today with the internet? he was definitely not a typical american ^^
Paul Robeson was a nutcase commie, get a book you people. Milton Friedman would have torn him apart in a debate had he had the chance to.
