Mars Rover NXT VEX Hybrid Robot with Rocker-Bogie Suspension
Here is a series of short videos combined of the robot being demontrated at the Space Foundation's Mars Yard (USA).
The robot was developed and programmed by my robotics students from Trailblazer Elementary. The student's age range from 6 to 11 years old.
The NXT brick controls 12 VEX motors (6 regular motors and 6 servos), a wireless camera, and a set of lights for night vision. The robot's remote control also uses a NXT brick and all the functionality, including the camera feed, is controlled by the remote.
The special suspension system makes this robot an all-terrain robot. It can climb rocks up to 3 times the size of its wheels.
