Actually, for those disparaging Mirjana, it would do you well to know that she has conquered a lot of demons and has come back this year in supreme fitness, surging back toward the top 100 without many of the privileges Monica enjoyed. She qualified for both Wimby and the US Open in 2010 and, at 28, is showing remarkable poise and inspiration. Her talent is unique and her journey should be respected, no matter what. Monica would respect her.

Monica played well but just didn't have enough fitness at that time to hang in there but Lucic had a golden day. I think this and the Steffi-Venus were the matches of the championship.

the thing is that Seles was not good on grass: remember how she was "destroyed" 6/0 6/1 and 6/2 6/1 by Graf at Wimbledon (before the stabbing!!!!!)

@JamieOwen03 Correct. It was one of her worst defeats at Wimbledon losing to a lesser player. Another was in 1996 losing to Studenikova who played the same tactics as Graf , big forehand and sliced backhands.

Too bad Mirjana never fulfilled her promises. I can't believe people would say nasty things about her. She had a horrible father like Dokic's and the fact that they are both now back on tour is an inspiration. I hope she can taste some of her former glory again.
