The movie is only good for those who don't actually read. For those of us who are literate, the book is extremely thought provoking. I've read every book Heinlein wrote; I was exposed to him at way too a young an age, I guess. ST is not my favorite book, but I like it. I watched the movie muttering, "Did these people even read the book first?" I think not.

Did anyone else notice that Dizzy Flores, a very minor character in the book, got a sex change operation in the movie?

There's a reason there'd be such a long complex description of the powered armor, at the time the book was written no one had heard of it before, Star Ship Troopers invented the concept. If it weren't for that bit of description you're whining about there'd be no Halo, no Ironman, no Warhammer 40,000. Anything involving a robotic suit of armor came from the novel Star Ship Troopers.
